ALIEN FOSSILS ON MARS?

July 31, 2010

An alien fossil?

Move over “My Favorite Martian.”  The real aliens, the ones without antennae, are upon us. Looking at the “print” above, it would be a bit more convincing if there were a series of indentations that made a trail. The dinosaur/human trails found in the Paluxy River bed in Texas are a good example.  Maybe the alien that made the above “track” was a flier and no trail is necessary.  Of course, it doesn’t have to be a appendage fossil print at all.

The Taylor Trail in the Paluxy River Bed

The highlighted story is typical.  The title announces possible signs of alien life.  There is a picture, “scientific” administrations and institutes and their studies are noted, and an idea that fits with macro-evolutionary thought is put forth.

This particular article includes a surprise that is often neglected.  It states:

Scientists have not yet discovered proof of life on Mars, or anywhere in the universe beyond Earth, though they are getting closer to knowing where to look and how to recognize the signs of life if they are present.

“My Favorite Martian” was a quirky comedy that made us laugh.  I would have to be deaf and blind not to be aware of the serious alien “buzz” that permeates much of today’s airwaves.

Ray Walston was "My Favorite Martian"

A friend pointed me to a movie named “Knowing.” I watched the final half hour.

It’s a sci-fi flick that has an answer.  It explains how a Garden of Eden could have been created.  Man didn’t come from God. He came from aliens.

The movie visually depicts a “theory” put forth by Richard Dawkins, the great modern day macro-evolutionist, that we may have been seeded on Earth by aliens.

These two young humans and their rabbits are "seeded" on a new planet in "Knowing."

Aliens used to be fun.  They have now become an answer.  Some humans would rather believe that evolved aliens, rather than an Almighty God, explain our existence.

Earlier this month, the mainstream media reported the sighting of a UFO over a Chinese airport.  The UFO reportedly grounded airline flights for awhile. I have no idea what the thing in China was.  It appears that no one else admits to knowing either.

Media photo of UFO over Chinese Airport

Some Christians are saying that the UFO bustle is the result of demonic activity. A student of Bible prophecy that I listen to thinks so.  I don’t know if this is true or not.  I do know that demons are real.  Anyone who has read any of the Gospels knows it.  The Gospels also tell of the good angels.

The sculpture of The Fallen Angel at Plaza del Ángel Caído, in the Retiro Park in Madrid (Spain). Created in 1877 and cast in bronze for Universal Exposition in Paris. Work by Ricardo Bellver (1845-1924), a Spanish sculptor. Photo by Thermos.

……I do know one thing about all of this UFO stuff.  It doesn’t prove that the book of Genesis is inaccurate.  Genesis is the story of an Everlasting God who spoke this world into existence.  He created a garden.  He created a man and a woman.  They enjoyed the garden until…

Unfortunately, the beginning has a sad ending.  Sin enters the world.  Sin is something the macro-evolutionists don’t want to discuss.  The Biblical account explains what I observe to my satisfaction.

The bookend to Genesis is Revelation.  I think it is also very literal.  It is sequential and describes future events that are more tragic and fascinating than anything Hollywood can conjure.

And the aliens?  We will eventually know the truth.  It will all fit very nicely.

GOD AND CONSERVATIVES

July 30, 2010

Rush Limbaugh

Rush Limbaugh and George Will are both conservatives, I think.

I lived in Sacramento, California during the time that Limbaugh made it a home base as he grew his audience.  I remember thinking that he seemed original and appeared very confident.

I’ve read George Will for years.  When his language usage went from addressing 10% of the population to 2%, the wading wasn’t worth the fruit.

Until the recent advent of Fox News, “conservatives” had been relegated to the print and radio media.

It can be argued that Rush and George were poster boys for the conservatives.

When it comes to worldviews:

I’ve always thought of “right” and “Conservative” as more traditional.

I’ve always thought of “left” and “Liberal” as more progressive.

Rush and George have proven lately that these terms are being blurred.

On his radio show yesterday, Rush Limbaugh said that he supports same-sex civil unions.

Only a few months ago, George said, “…being gay is like being left-handed. The Supreme Court has a famous phrase it used in some opinion, the evolving standards of decency that mark a maturing society. Clearly these are evolving, and the case is over, basically.”

So, our conservative “giants” are lending credibility to gayness.

I think the following quote from the article posted at the bottom summarizes my view well:

“The question is not so much about marriage, but about homosexual acts.  The acts are harmful to the individuals who engage in them. They are harmful physically, emotionally and spiritually. Suggesting that one would oppose same-sex ‘marriage’ but support same-sex civil unions sends the wrong message to those engaging in the destructive behavior.

“Such a compromise undermines the central issue in that it would demonstrate a lack of concern for those participating in homosexual activity. Moving from tolerance of homosexual activity to legal recognition is a serious matter.  Laws teach people what is right and wrong and thus homosexual acts will implicitly be given the stamp of approval where such legal recognition is granted.  The young will be given the false impression that this behavior is safe and acceptable, or even good.”

People will continue to use any terminology they want, but the term “conservative” is “evolving” as George would say.

More now than ever, I’m finding myself dividing things into two camps: “Godly” and “ungodly.”

Issues that are clearly defined as wrong according to God’s Word are finding approval by mainstream conservatives as well as liberals.

Sin is still sin no matter who gives its approval.  We do those who make evil good and good evil no favors.

“All have sinned and have fallen short of the glory of God.”  Repentance is a continual part of the Christian life.

I must admit that it seems to me that, in their conclusions, Rush and George mostly have financial “answers.”  These answers don’t get to the root.

47% OF GAYS ARE “OPEN”

July 30, 2010

Everyone who lives in Arkansas should know of the Family Council.  It is the best source in Arkansas for updates on items that affect the family.  Click below the “About” at the bottom to finds a concise history and mission statement of one of the best state organizations.

From a recent Family Council email:

Studies revealing the commitment level of gay couples have been released before, but it’s always good to highlight updated studies. This new study shows that only 45% of gay couples are monogamous (i.e. have only one sex partner), while 47% have “sex agreements” with their partners.

It’s especially important to emphasis this study in light of our fight to defend the Arkansas Adoption and Foster Care Act.* Research has consistently revealed that homosexual homes are not as stable as homes with a married mother and father. You can read an article about the study by clicking here.

*The Adoption and Foster Care Act (ACT 1) was passed in Arkansas in the election of 2008.  Garland County contributed just over 4,000 petition signatures to get the ACT on the statewide ballot.  Arkansans approved the measure with 57% of the vote.

In a recent ruling, ACT 1 has been found unconstitutional by one judge in Northwest Arkansas.  With one pen stroke, one judge has overruled the will of the people.  The story is far from over.  The Wings of the Wind will keep readers updated on this important story as the facts become known.

Too strict?  The above laws are current immigration laws of MEXICO!

Imagine the outrage if America had the exact laws?

There is no question that Mexico has the natural resources to support its population.  A major problem lies with the corruption in its government.  Now a universal problem, Mexico’s corruption has been deeply embedded for too long.

The other major part of the problem is, of course, American businessmen who take advantage of the weak and unprotected Mexican worker.  To finger the unreliability of the Mexican government without mentioning the irresponsibility of certain American business owners would be inequitable.

I would like to thank Bob for sending me this information.  He knows the border as well as anyone, as he lives near the Mexican border in Texas where many drug related murders have occurred recently.  Bob also sent along this additional information: -CR

The State of Sonora is angry at the influx of Mexicans into Mexico.  Nine state legislators from the Mexican State of Sonora traveled to Tucson to complain about Arizona’s new employer crackdown on illegals from Mexico .

It seems that many Mexican illegals are returning to their hometowns and the officials in the Sonora state government are ticked off.  A delegation of nine state legislators from Sonora was in Tucson on Tuesday to state that Arizona’s new Employer Sanctions Law will have a devastating effect on the Mexican state.

At a news conference, the legislators said that Sonora, Arizona’s southern neighbor, made up of mostly small towns, – cannot handle the demand for housing, jobs and schools that it will face as Mexican workers return to their hometowns from  the USA without jobs or money. The Arizona law, which took effect Jan. 1, punishes Arizona employers who knowingly hire individuals without valid legal documents to work in the United States .

Penalties include suspension of, or loss of, their business license. The Mexican legislators are angry because their own citizens are returning to their hometowns, placing a burden on THEIR state government.

“How can Arizona pass a law like this?’ asked Mexican Rep. Leticia Amparano-Gamez, who represents Nogales.” There is not one person living in Sonora who does not have a friend or relative working in Arizona ,’ she said, speaking in Spanish.

“ Mexico is not prepared for this, for the tremendous problems it will face as more and more Mexicans working in Arizona and who were sending money to their families return to their home-towns in Sonora without jobs,” she said. “We are one family, socially and economically,” she said of the people of Sonora and Arizona.   Wrong!

The United States is a sovereign nation, not a subsidiary of Mexico, and its taxpayers are not responsible for the welfare of Mexico’s citizens.

LOTTERY VENDING MACHINES?

July 29, 2010

I’m not a fan of gambling in any fashion and even a number of states that have had lotteries for years don’t have vending machines.  Why do we need them in Arkansas?

The Arkansas Lottery Commission plans to roll out 100 lottery ticket vending machines across Arkansas.  Between now and August 13th, they are accepting public comments on the vending machines.

If you feel as I do, that the machines are another step in the wrong direction, and you live in Arkansas, please leave a comment at the following location: -CR

THE WOW AT 100

July 28, 2010

Wings

One hundred posts is really not much considering the “Wings” news site that came before this one had many more.

No matter.  I want to stop and thank the Good Lord for giving me the opportunity to spout.  If anything good comes from this effort, it would be a wonder.  Sometimes the preacher benefits from his messages more than anyone else.  This is, of course, the last goal.  But it is healthy to write privately or publicly. Public discourse is always important.  Private thoughts are no less so.

This “thing” has thus far been enjoyable, although some of the subjects aren’t.  I am thankful for the platform.    Everyone should have a soapbox.  It cleans the lungs.

THE MOST DANGEROUS CITY?

July 28, 2010

The red bar at the extreme lower left represents Hot Springs, Arkansas

A clearer and enlarged PDF picture of the one above may be seen at the following:

http://akhost.chacha.com/chacha.com/infographics/dangerous-cities.pdf

If one googles “What are America’s most dangerous cities,” some surprising information is found.

The first post noted is from Forbes, which lists Detroit as the most dangerous.

The second post is from chacha, which lists Hot Springs, Arkansas as the most dangerous city in America.

Hot Springs?  It is the city where I spend most of my time.

Facts can be skewed but more than one source makes it clear that there is a problem in the “Spa City.”

Statewide T.V. news has confirmed the internet information in the past two weeks.  Last night, it was reported that a group of men had been arrested for county crimes.  This is after two other recent T.V. news stories; one the top story of the evening. They were about crime in Garland County.

Sitting next to me is a stack of 8 ½ by 12 paper with information from the internet that contains unfavorable facts for Hot Springs.  The information was given to me by a speaker who discussed it last Saturday at a local speech club.

This information is not something that I want to make known. But, I can’t pretend a problem doesn’t exist.  If the information gets to enough residents, maybe helpful changes can be made.

I see the problems myself.  Local church based assistance programs are stretched to the limit.  In the past two years, clients at one free (to the client), faith-based assistance location have doubled.

By now, most of you who read this blog know that I believe our problems stem from a spiritual need.

We can address the surface, but until we address the heart, I think we will continue to see numbers that are unacceptable.  Each individual must take responsibility for themselves and for their children.  Until the Commandments of God return as an important part of personal and national law, we will continue to see problems.  How can we not?

A lawyer asked Jesus a question one day.

“Teacher, which is the great commandment of the Law?

“Jesus said, ‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind.’

“This is the great and foremost commandment.”

This stack of paper at which I am looking would not exist if man would embrace the guidelines set out in the words of Jesus.

The comments at the above site reflect views that one would get on the streets of Hot Springs.

PRAY IF YOU WANT TO

July 25, 2010

I am happy to report that every personal acquaintance that has had anything posted here is speaking out to make a difference.  This emailer is no exception.   Thanks to Gerald Wheeler for passing this along. – CR

Folks, we need to RE-TAKE AMERICA & CANADA

Research shows that Paul Harvey, Andy Rooney, and someone named Paul Thompson had a hand in this effort over the years. Snopes says most of the work is that of Nick Gholson, a sports writer for the Times Record News in Wichita Falls, Texas (printed back in 1999?).  It has obviously long since been modified (by many) to now read as follows:

I don’t believe in Santa Claus, but I’m not going to sue somebody for singing a  Ho-Ho-Ho song in December.  I don’t agree with Darwin,  but I didn’t go out and hire a lawyer when my high school  teacher taught his Theory of Evolution.

Life, liberty or your pursuit of happiness will not be endangered because someone says a 30-second prayer before a football game. So what’s the big deal?  It’s not like somebody is up there reading the entire Book of Acts.  They’re just talking to a God they believe in and asking him to grant safety to the players on  the field and the fans going home from the game.

But, it’s a Christian prayer some will argue.

Yes, and this is the United States of America and Canada, countries founded on Christian principles.  According to our very own phone book, Christian churches outnumber all others better than 200-to-1.  So what would you expect – somebody chanting Hare Krishna?

If I went to a football game in Jerusalem, I  would expect to hear a Jewish prayer.

If I went to a soccer game in Baghdad, I would expect to hear a Muslim prayer.

If I went to a ping pong  match in China,  I would expect to hear someone pray to Buddha.

And I wouldn’t be offended.   It wouldn’t bother me one bit.

When in Rome …..

But, “what about the atheists?” is another argument.

What about them? Nobody is asking them to be baptized.  We’re not going to pass  the collection plate. Just humor us for 30 seconds.   If that’s asking too much, bring a Walkman or a pair of ear plugs.  Go to the bathroom.  Visit the concession stand.

Call your lawyer?

Unfortunately, one or two will make that call.  One or two will tell thousands what they can and cannot do. I don’t think a short prayer at a football game is going to shake the world’s foundations.

Christians are tired of watching our courts strip us of  our rights.  Our parents and grandparents taught us to pray before eating, to pray before we go to  sleep. Our Bible tells us to pray without ceasing.

Now a handful of people and their lawyers are telling us to cease praying.

God, help us.  And if that last sentence offends you, well, too bad.

The silent majority has been silent too long.  It’s time we tell that one or two who scream loud enough to be heard that the vast majority doesn’t care what they want.  It is time that the majority rules!   It’s time we tell them, “You don’t have to pray; you don’t have to say the Pledge of Allegiance; you don’t have to  believe in God or attend services that honor Him.  That is your right, and we will honor your right; but by golly, you are no longer going to take our rights away.  We are fighting back, and we WILL WIN!”

God bless us one and all…Especially those who denounce Him, God bless America and Canada, despite all of our faults. We are still the greatest nations of all. God bless our servicemen who are fighting to protect our right to pray and worship God.

Let’s make 2010 the year the silent majority is heard and we put God back as the foundation of our families and institutions. Let’s pray that our military forces may come home from war.

Keep looking up.

THE IMPORTANCE OF GOD FOR AMERICA

July 25, 2010

E Pluribus Unum was the original motto for the United States of America. Thirty-six years after the founding it was changed to “In God We Trust”. The motto is stamped on buildings and documents and on the money we carry in our pockets or purse but how often do we stop to think of how it came to be the national motto?

“E Pluribus Unum” – The original motto of the United States was secular. “E Pluribus Unum” is Latin for “One from many” or “One from many parts.” It refers to the welding of a single federal state from a group of individual political units — originally colonies and now states. ** On 1776-JUL-4, Congress appointed John Adams, Benjamin Franklin, and Thomas Jefferson to prepare a design for the Great Seal of the United States. The first design, submitted to Congress on 1776-AUG-10 used the motto “E Pluribus Unum.” It was rejected. Five other designs also failed to meet with Congress’ approval during the next five years. In 1782, Congress asked Mr. Thomson, Secretary of Congress, to complete the project. Thomson, along with a friend named Barton, produced a design that was accepted by Congress on 1782-JUN-10. It included an eagle with a heart-shaped shield, holding arrows and an olive branch in its claws. The motto “E Pluribus Unum” appeared on a scroll held in its beak. The seal was first used on 1782-SEP-16. It was first used on some federal coins in 1795.

“In God We Trust:” – The war of 1812 was an unusual conflict. Both sides claimed victory. The winner depends upon which history books or which country’s schools you attended. Also, the war lasted well beyond 1812. ** During 1814, Francis Scott Key (a.k.a. Frank) had an eventful September. “Traveling under a white flag, Key met with both an enemy general and admiral, recovered a war prisoner, became a war prisoner, watched a historical bombardment, lost a night’s sleep, and wrote” what eventually became the American national anthem: The Star Spangled Banner. 1 ** The final stanza reads: “And this be our motto: ‘In God is our trust.’ * And the Star Spangled Banner in triumph shall wave * O’er the land of the free and the home of the brave.” ** In 1864, the words were shortened to “In God We Trust” and applied to a newly designed two-cent coin.

Follow the link if you wish to also follow the controversy regarding the “God” motto…my purpose here is to offer food for thought that I believe is inclusive of religious and secular views. Consider, instead of a King, potentate, prime minister, dictator, judge, or even president, America’s founders recognized only God as the authority for our basic human rights:

“Progressives and the Declaration of Independence,” by Jack Curtis, The American Thinker

A free, independent people can adopt a constitution for themselves. But the Americans (colonists) were subjects of George III, neither free nor independent. They were legally bound by English law. They changed that with the Declaration of Independence… ** The Declaration was necessary to separate the Continental Congress and the United States from King George. Without it, they were only rebellious subjects. That is why it was done in God’s name; His Authority was required to overrule the King’s. The Declaration is the clear statement by the Founders of the principles they built upon.

Today (and yesterday) many of us will attend religious services or spend quiet time in worship and prayer, others of us will not, but none of us can be denied our basic human rights by any other human being or spokesperson for the UN, Sharia, or other entity. We as a nation recognize, as our Declaration of Independence states, that God is the guarantor of our basic rights.

Like I said…food for thought on a Sunday afternoon.

PREACHER’S ARREST WILL NOT QUIET HIM

July 22, 2010

Pastor Wallace notes that the black race makes up less that 12% of the population yet has 40% of the abortions.

Charlie Butts – OneNewsNow – 7/22/2010

Pastor Ronnie Wallace faces an August 23 court date after his arrest in Charlotte, North Carolina, for preaching the gospel in front of an abortion clinic.

The disabled veteran was sitting on a step-ladder and preaching on a public easement outside the Family Reproductive Health Abortion Clinic when he was arrested by seven police officers. One ordered him to stop preaching. When he declined, he was taken into custody on a vague charge of placing or maintaining an obstruction in the right of way.

Pastor Wallace contends there was no obstruction and reports that he was 12 feet away from traffic. But he does understand why clinic owners are upset with him. “We have done what God has called us to do in this society, in this city, at this time, and it’s having a profound effect on the people who want to shut us up,” he explains.

That effect, he says, is that many women arriving for abortions have sought alternate help, deciding to give their children life — and that, he adds, costs the abortion clinic money. But the street preacher assures that his arrest will not deter him in the future.

“I’m not going to be shut up,” he declares. “I’m going to speak, I’m going to preach it, I’m going to tell it everywhere I go, and it doesn’t make any difference to me how many of them get upset by it. They can’t disprove anything that I say, so they want me to stop saying it.”

During the August trial, Wallace intends to prove that police violated his constitutional right to free speech and that he has a right to be bold in defense of the unborn.
